Role Overview: As the Head of Engineering, you will be the technical heartbeat of our delivery unit. You will bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and technical execution, ensuring our engineering team remains high-performing, profitable, and technologically ahead of the curve. You share P&L responsibility, drive pre-sales success, and foster a culture of engineering excellence while serving as the primary technical authority for the company. 1. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth (Pre-Sales Support) You are a key partner to the Sales and Marketing teams, ensuring technical capabilities translate into market success. * Solution Architecture: Act as the primary Lead/Solution Architect during pre-sales, discovery, and initial project phases. Ensure all proposals are technically sound, accurately estimated, and include comprehensive risk assessments. * Pre-Sales Mastery: Review RFPs and validated leads; lead technical discovery calls; document assumptions and risks; and validate final proposals prepared by the Sales team. * Client Representation: Participate in introductory and follow-up calls with leads. Represent the company’s expertise and the engineering team to existing and potential clients in both online and offline forums. * Market Positioning & Evangelism: Collaborate with Marketing on sales messaging and strategy. Act as a technical expert at industry events, online/offline workshops, and webinars. * Content Validation: Write, interview for, or validate technical case studies and blog content to strengthen the corporate brand and website authority.
2. Delivery Oversight & Operational Excellence You ensure that what we sell is delivered with the highest quality, efficiency, and profitability. * P&L Accountability: In collaboration with the Delivery Director, plan engineering resources and bench management to meet revenue and margin KPIs. Jointly own the Delivery Unit’s financial health. * Technical Governance: Oversee technical decisions across ongoing projects. Introduce, improve, and monitor internal quality standards and delivery strategies. * Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor engineering team performance in coordination with Delivery Managers. * AI Integration & Adoption: Define and lead the adoption of AI tools (e.g., Claude Code) across the entire SDLC. Collaborate cross-functionally with BA and Design teams to optimize productivity and innovation. * Escalation Management: Act as the final point of resolution for technical crises, roadblocks, and performance or behavioral-related delivery issues.
3. People Operations & Talent Development You are responsible for the entire lifecycle of the engineering team, focusing on growth and retention. * Strategic Recruitment: Partner with HR to own the hiring lifecycle. Write/validate JDs, review CVs (post-recruiter screening), design technical assessments, and conduct final behavioral interviews. You hold the final hiring decision. * Onboarding: Directly oversee the integration and onboarding of senior-level hires (Architects, Team Leads) and specialists in new technology directions. * Performance Management: Lead the 360-review process, manage salary raise requests, and formulate professional development roadmaps (focusing on both hard and soft skills). * Compensation & Authority: Hold final executive authority on promotions, salary increases, and dismissals within the engineering department. * Mentorship: Conduct regular 1:1s with Team Leads and Architects. Design professional development plans, coordinate professional courses, and plan certifications for the team.
4. Infrastructure, Security & Compliance You serve as the guardian of the company’s internal and client-facing technical environments. * Resource Administration: Manage admin rights, billing, and budget allocations for Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and developer tools (e.g., Claude Code). * Security & Privacy: Oversee the security and privacy of all development environments and corporate technical resources. * Compliance: Lead the technical preparation and requirements for future company security certifications (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC2) and take responsibility for audits.
5. Future Evolution & Organizational Scaling * Department Integration: We are moving toward a unified delivery structure. You will eventually lead the integration of Business Analysis (BA) and Design teams into the broader Engineering organization to ensure a seamless, “Product-First” approach across the entire company.
