Position Overview:
You’ll be the research backbone of our health and wellness content operation — sourcing and vetting studies, evaluating scientific claims, and producing accurate, nuanced material that our audience can rely on. You’ll work alongside editors and content strategists to ensure everything we publish is grounded in credible evidence and communicated accessibly, without oversimplifying the science.
Key Responsibilities: * Search, review, and synthesize peer-reviewed studies, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses across health and wellness topics * Fact-check health claims in drafted and published content, flagging inaccuracies, outdated information, or unsupported assertions * Assess study quality — including methodology, sample size, funding sources, and publication credibility — to distinguish strong evidence from weak or preliminary findings * Write in-depth research reports as well as shorter accessible articles, summaries, and explainers for a general wellness audience * Maintain a curated database of trusted sources, experts, institutions, and recurring reference materials for the content team * Monitor health news cycles, emerging research, and regulatory updates to surface timely, relevant stories * Apply responsible editorial standards around health misinformation, sensationalism, and the appropriate framing of risk and uncertainty
Qualifications: * 2–5 years of experience in health journalism, science writing, medical content, or a research-intensive content role * Proven ability to read and critically evaluate scientific literature, including understanding of study design, statistical significance, and research limitations * Familiarity with research databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, or similar academic resources * Strong writing skills across formats — from detailed analytical reports to short-form consumer-facing wellness content * A healthy skepticism toward health trends, as well as bias of industry funded studies and — and the research instincts to back it up * Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy and editorial integrity * Ability to manage multiple assignments independently and communicate clearly with editors and cross-functional collaborators
Nice to have: * Degree or coursework in nutrition, public health, biology, medicine, or a related scientific discipline * Experience working with or alongside licensed healthcare professionals (MDs, RDs, PhDs) in a content review process * Knowledge of YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) content standards and health-related SEO considerations * Familiarity with a specific wellness vertical such as mental health, fitness, nutrition, sleep, or longevity.
