About the role
We are looking for a Middle Automation QA Engineer to join our team and take ownership of E2E test automation for a web product.
This role is not about simply writing automated tests from predefined test cases.
You will work closely with the Product Owner and development team, turn acceptance criteria into executable BDD scenarios, build E2E automation with Playwright + TypeScript/JavaScript, and help make product acceptance more reliable and predictable.
You will also encounter Selenium, API testing and other tools used across the QA process.
What you’ll do * Develop and maintain E2E automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript.⚡ * Write and maintain BDD scenarios using Cucumber/Gherkin. * Translate acceptance criteria from user stories into executable test scenarios. * Work closely with the Product Owner during feature acceptance and help identify gaps or ambiguities in requirements. * Participate in refinement sessions and contribute a QA perspective before development starts. * Integrate and maintain automated tests in GitHub Actions. * Analyze test results and failures using Allure reports and CI logs. * Map automated scenarios and test results to Jira stories where appropriate. * Maintain and improve the existing automation framework, keeping tests stable, readable and maintainable.️ * Migrate existing automated tests from other repositories into the Cucumber-based framework. * Investigate flaky tests and CI failures and continuously improve test reliability. * Collaborate with developers, Product Owners and other QA engineers throughout the development lifecycle. * Contribute to improving test coverage and the overall quality of the product.
What we expect from you * 2+ years of commercial experience in QA Automation.⏳ * Strong hands-on experience with Playwright.✨ * Confident knowledge of TypeScript and/or JavaScript. * Experience with E2E/UI test automation. * Practical experience with Cucumber and Gherkin. * Solid understanding of BDD as a testing/development methodology, not just Gherkin syntax. * Experience working with CI/CD pipelines. * Understanding of GitHub Actions and how automated tests are executed in CI. * Experience with Git. * Understanding of QA fundamentals, test design techniques and software development lifecycle. * Experience with Jira or similar issue/project tracking tools. * Ability to read and understand acceptance criteria and user stories and turn them into meaningful test scenarios. * Good analytical and troubleshooting skills. * Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the development and product teams.
Nice to have * Experience with Selenium. * Experience with API testing/automation. * Experience with K6 or other performance testing tools. * Deeper experience configuring and maintaining GitHub Actions workflows. * Experience with Allure reporting. * Experience migrating tests between automation frameworks or repositories. * Experience with AI-assisted or agentic development/testing tools. * Understanding of test automation architecture and design patterns.
QA involvement before development You won’t be joining the process only when a feature is “Ready for QA”. You’ll participate in refinements and work with acceptance criteria before implementation.
BDD approach Your scenarios will be connected to real product behavior and acceptance criteria rather than existing only as technical automation scripts.
Automation with real impact Your tests will run in CI and provide fast feedback on the health of the product.
